Safety Requirements for AGV Charging Systems
AGV charging safety should be evaluated as a complete system, including the vehicle, charger, docking method, battery/BMS, control logic and working environment. Whether contact charging or wireless charging is used, the system needs stable output, clear protection logic and reliable communication with the vehicle.

Mechanical safety is the first requirement. The charger layout should avoid collision risks, exposed conductive parts and moving parts that may interfere with the AGV route. For automatic charging stations, docking guidance and position detection should be stable enough to prevent repeated impact during alignment.
Electrical safety is equally important. The charging system should include over-voltage, over-current, short-circuit and over-temperature protection, and should coordinate with the BMS during constant-current and constant-voltage charging. Emergency stop, warning indication and personnel detection devices also need to be considered in the overall safety design.
When selecting an AGV charging system, do not only compare charging power. It is also necessary to check protection rating, installation method, communication protocol, docking tolerance, fault alarm logic and the supplier's project experience. A safer charging solution should match the robot, battery and site conditions as a complete system.
